About CBT

In 1921, Cincinnati beltmaker Albert Stagnaro recognized an opportunity to serve the many factories in and around the industrial Cincinnati area. With a relative and an associate, he founded the Cincinnati Belting Company. Through the ensuing years the company focused on leather belting and related power transmission products and services.

In 1975, James E. Stahl Jr. saw an exceptional opportunity and purchased the small distributor. With this purchase he expanded the opportunities that he saw for the future growth of power transmission products. An Electrical Department was added soon after with a strong commitment to A.C. and D.C. electric motors. In 1981, CB&T added mounted and unmounted bearings at the suggestion of several customers.

Through the following years the thriving business found itself in need of a larger facility. In December of 1988, CB&T completed renovation of its new 50,000-square-foot facility, adjacent to western downtown Cincinnati. Once home to the keg-filling plant of the historical Hudepohl Brewing Co., the new facility is more than three times larger than the former location.

As its business flourished in the corridor between Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, CB&T felt that the northern area would be better served with a local sales staff and inventory. In October of 1989, CB&T opened a second full-service, distribution center in Dayton.  For the past 11 years, this facility has been providing our customer partners with an extensive local inventory and service.  To further enhance our ability to serve our customers in the Miami Valley and the rapidly growing areas of Butler and Warren County, CB&T relocated its Dayton branch to a brand new 22,000 square foot facility in Springboro, Ohio.

CB&T has grown from just five employees in 1975 to more than 90 employees today. There are many reasons for this rapid growth, including a fresh outlook, positive corporate attitude and a sincere commitment to quality.

Cincinnati Belting & Transmission is committed to a program of total quality and is dedicated to on-going educational studies in this area. Since 1990, management and staff have been involved in classroom teaching of quality techniques.

Managers can now delegate decision making and problem solving to those most closely associated with the day-to-day operations. Quality teams identify problems, seek solutions and implement recommendations. These efforts have been found to make a noticeable difference and have been applauded by both customers and vendors alike.

A unique group of product specialists and departments support the very core of Cincinnati Belting & Transmission's focus - the customer. CB&T believes that customers want much more than just a promise and a smile. They believe that the customer wants a business partner that can get the right product or service needed, when needed.
