Ruland zero-backlash jaw couplings are lightweight, have low inertia, and have high dampening capabilities for use in applications with hard starts and stops such as optical inspection systems. This keyed clamp type hub is a component in a three piece design which mates two aluminum hubs and an elastomeric insert called the spider. The addition of a keyway allows for increased torque capacity and prevents the coupling hub from slipping on the shaft when over torqued. It has a 10mm bore, 3mm keyway, 25.4mm OD, and 11.9mm length. The multiple piece construction allows for a highly customizable coupling that easily combines clamp or set screw hubs with inch, metric, keyed, and keyless bores. Spiders are available in three durometers allowing the user to tailor coupling performance to system requirements. It has a balanced design and can accommodate speeds of up to 8,000 RPM. Hardware is metric and tests beyond DIN 912 12.9 standards for maximum torque capabilities. This jaw coupling hub is RoHS and REACH compliant. It is made from bar stock sourced exclusively from North American mills and manufactured in Ruland's Marlborough, Massachusetts factory under strict controls using proprietary processes.
