Safety Symposium: Meet the Speakers

  Safety standards and regulations have continued to evolve over the past several years. Do you understand the new requirements? Have you implemented them at your facility? Do you know where to start? At CBT, the safety of our customers is our top concern. We have assembled representatives from OSHA, leading local safety professionals, and our partners in safety solutions for a one day Safety Symposium on October 1. The symposium is designed to give you an understanding of the safety requirements for your industry and solutions to help you implement the required changes to provide a safe and productive work place.

Meet the Speakers

Rick Gerlach (Cintas): Rick has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, is a Certified Safety Professional, and a Certified Industrial Hygienist. He is a former Chair and current member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Management Committee. He is also a former Chair and current member of the Textile Rental Services Association Safety Committee. James Lopez (OSHA): James has been with OSHA for 7.5 years. Before joining OSHA, he was a Safety and Health Consultant with the State of Ohio for 9.5 years. He has an Associates of Applied Science degree in Safety Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelors of Science in Management from Park University, and a Masters of Art in Management from Antioch University McGregor.

John Morris (Brady): John Morris will review the current OSHA regulations for two of the most frequently cited standards, 1910.1200 – Hazard Communications (GHS) and 1910.147 – LockOut/TagOut. We will review the current requirements along with the best practice solutions for each of these areas. John Morris is a senior territory manager with the Brady Corporation. He has more than 20 years of experience involving electrical and industrial safety and identification.

 

Bob Ruggles (Electrical Diagnostic Surveys): Bob has successfully trained thousands of workers in safe electrical work practices. He is passionate about educating electrical workers in safe electrical work practices. Bob is an NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional and Electrical Section Member and is an electrical safety consultant for numerous clients.

 

Eduard Ryba (Procter & Gamble): Eduard Ryba is a Controls and Information Systems Technology Leader for P&G. He has machine controls experience with P&G in high speed converting, packaging, and robotics applications. Ed currently has NA Family Care machine controls responsibilities for Tissue/Towel Converting systems and is the FC Platform Management Engineering Machine Control Safety Systems owner.

 

Tom Alford (Rockwell Automation): Tom is responsible for providing training, application support, and product assistance for safety, industrial control, and sensing. He is passionate about helping manufacturers achieve the goals of being safe, compliant, and productive. He regularly conducts seminars on risk assessment, functional safety, and machine guarding to help companies achieve these goals.

 

Steve Boyette (Ross Controls): After working as a technician and trainer with Carrier Transicold, Steve joined ROSS Controls, a leader in the fluid power industry, where he has remained for more than 24 years. Today, he serves as the firm’s Global Industry Specialist for Safety and Press. He has an Associate Degree in Electromechanical Engineering technology from Athens Area Technical Institute with an emphasis on robotics.
